| Quick Resume: Mrs. Messier holds two undergraduate degrees from the
University of Vermont; a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance
and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Mrs. Messier also
holds a Masters of Arts in Music Education from the University of
Hawaii at Manoa. Mrs. Messier taught public school orchestra
and string lessons in Plattsburgh, New York for six years before
opening Swanton Strings. Her teaching position in Plattsburgh
made it possible her to work with violin, viola, cello, and bass
students from grades four through twelve.
Mrs. Messier has played the violin for over twenty-two years and has given private string instruction for
over eleven years. Mrs. Messier has teaching experience at all age levels from kindergarten students to
college students and adults. Mrs. Messier spends her summers teaching lessons and working for
various area youth string camps, including the Essex-UVM String Camp and the Vermont Youth
Orchestra Music Day Camp.
Mrs. Messier is currently the conductor of the Adirondack Youth Orchestra (AYO) in Plattsburgh, New
York. Mrs. Messier has guest conducted the Vermont Youth Orchestra’s Presto Orchestra as well as
the Vermont American String Teacher Association’s Day for Strings Festival Orchestra. In addition to
her busy teaching schedule, Mrs. Messier remains active in violin performance by playing for many
weddings and performance events throughout Vermont and in Clinton County, New York. She has
performed with the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society, the Burlington Choral Society, and the Vermont
Symphony Orchestra Ensembles. |
