Ilona Machado was born in Poland, where she began playing violin at age 6. Her musical talent was revealed by her neighbor, a professional violinist, and later her private teacher. Because of him, she finished 12 years of music, violin, piano/music theory & harmony and ear training education, as well as music history education in the State’s Music School in Cracov, Poland. She graduated with a degree in violin performance. She performed there with the Opera and Operetta of Cracov, Poland and taut violin in I and II Degree Music School in Cracov, Poland, where she also attended pedagogy classes held by her previous violin teacher.
In 1989 she moved to U.S. making Chicago her home for the next 7 years. She performed there with several orchestras, including the Northeastern Illinois University Chamber Orchestra, the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra and the Classical Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Joseph Glymph. She also performed as a freelance musician in a guitar duo. She continued private teaching until she moved to South Florida in 1996.
She lived in Pompano Beach and for the past six years she has been residing in the City of Margate.
There she started music programs, for children and adults, in several community schools, including the J.P. Taravella High School, where she worked closely with Mr. Peter Lido, the Margate Middle, the Coral Springs Middle and the Boca Raton Middle Schools and Winfield Christian Academy, where she taut group piano lessons.
In 1999 she worked for the Back Stage Music Studio in Boca Raton, where she taut violin. She also performed for 2 years with the Florida Atlantic University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras under the direction of Mr. Aaron Kula, and attended pedagogy classes there with Rebecca Lautar. Later she studied with Mei Mei Lou, former Florida Philharmonic player.
She is currently a freelance musician and a private teacher as well as an instructor at the Elite Music Instruction and the Music Tunes 4 U. She also performs with the Broward Symphony Orchestra and the Coral Springs Pops Symphony. All her students passed the National Federation of Music Clubs District Competition with excellent and superior ratings and one of them have attended the well-known Bach Competition in Winter Park, Florida. Her students are also playing in the Florida Youth Orchestra and the Broward County Gold Cup Orchestra. She is teaching violin as well as basic and intermediate piano using Suzuki and Traditional methods. All her lessons include music theory and music reading skills. All her piano students participate at the Pompano Beach Piano Competition and the National Piano Guild with excellent results. She likes to work with small children, as they require the most patient and understanding. She is experienced with young children as 4 years old and also with adults. In 2003 and 2005 two of her students earned music scholarship at two Central Florida Universities. From 2005 she is attending Florida Atlantic University working on Music Education Degree and participates in University’s “Healing with Music” program. She also plays with the University’s Symphony Orchestra.
