Quick Resume: Kelsey Steinke is 17 years old and has been playing the flute for 8 years. She started music by learning piano 10 years ago, and two years later learned how to play the flute. In high school she started studying the flute more seriously, and soon was accepted into the Orange County High School of the Arts where she studied with renowned teachers and performers in the areas of music theory, music history, chamber music and orchestral music. She has played in and performed with the Chapman University Symphony, and also performed with the Chapman University Wind Ensemble on their 2006 summer tour to Sydney Australia, where the performed in the world famous Sydney Opera House. She was also involved in the Chapman Honor Band, and the SCSBOA All-Southern honor groups. Last year, Kelsey auditioned for and was accepted into the Pacific Youth Symphony Orchestra, which will be going on a two week tour to Europe in the summer of 2008. Most recently, she was accepted as principal chair in the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra. As a senior in high school this year, Kelsey will audition for conservatories and colleges of music in the winter, and she plans on majoring in flute performance in college.
