| Quick Resume: A native of Romania, Sorana A. Rus, nationally known harpist, began a distinguished career at age eighteen. Born in Cluj-Napoca, a Transilvanian site, Sorana started playing the harp in Bucharest at age nine and has studied with world famous.After graduating in 1996, Sorana A. Rus moved to the United States and began collaborating with Florida Philharmonic Orchestra (FL), Acadiana Symphony Orchestra (LA), Shreveport Symphony Orchestra (LA), Mobile Symphony Orchestra (AL), Symphony of Southeast Texas (TX), Gulf Coast Symphony (MS), Mississippi Simphony Orchestra (MS) and China National Symphony Orchestra. Meantime, she deepened her skills under the guidance of Beatrice Schroeder Rose, former Professor at University of Houston, Texas and Valerie von P. Whitcup, former Professor at University of Miami, Florida.Sorana A. Rus Scarlat presently lives with her husband George and her baby boy Alec Peter in Providence, RI where she is freelancing and teaching. She also performs with various orchestras in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. |
